The history of cycling is filled with feats and faces. Filled with muscles shaped by the wind and faces sculpted by fatigue. The very same faces that become icons of a secular rite: cheering, favourites are worshipped, opponents respected. Portraits jealously guarded, like works of art exhibited in the atelier of memory. Faces that can be smiling, like those shown on the stickers, or deformed by the effort of the athletic gesture and that become cruel caricatures. Like the faces drawn by Michele Rocchetti. Faces reflected in the mirror of soul and talent. Caricatures as merciless and edgy as only the grit and determination that animate champions can be. Modern depictions of an ancient sport. Champions from the past but always current, loved beyond generational devide.
Rocchetti's limited edition art prints are the essence of a passion, a repertoire of champions to surround yourself with in your personal art gallery.
Michele Rocchetti was born in Senigallia in 1986. Since 2012 he has worked as a graphic designer and illustrator in the publishing and advertising sectors. His collaboration with Tiralento began with the birth of the brand itself, for which he follows the corporate image and designs the graphics for the catalogue.«The fascination with cycling is something that was not part of my life, I have never been a sportsman, nor a lover of physical effort. The contagious enthusiasm of the fans, the beauty of the historical manufactures, the mystery behind the faces and the exploits of the great champions, gave me the opportunity to discover a surprising world; a world which it would have been a shame not to know about. This series of caricatures was born spontaneously out of the pleasure of celebrating, in my own way, the fascination of heroic riders, wearing their traditional jerseys; those same jerseys that are now very elegant, and whose 'ancient' physiognomies seemed already born to be inscribed in history».
